MF FX Studio delivers creative, inclusive group and individual workshops that use Makeup Artistry, Special effects makeup (SPFX), and prosthetics as a hands-on way to build skills, confidence, and social connection for NDIS participants.

Workshops are designed to support participants to develop practical life skills, creative expression, communication, and self-confidence in a safe, structured, and supportive environment — without the pressure of traditional classroom learning.

Programs can be adapted for varying abilities, interests, and support needs.

Safety & Support

All sessions are delivered with clear safety procedures, appropriate supervision, and risk awareness.

Materials and activities are adjusted to participant needs and abilities.

Support workers are welcome to attend if required.

About the Facilitator

Workshops are led by a highly experienced makeup and SPFX artist and educator with over 10 years of industry and teaching experience, including professional film, creative, and education settings. Sessions are designed to be welcoming, respectful, and creatively empowering.

Group sizes are intentionally kept small (2–6 participants)to ensure safety, engagement and appropriate support

Program Overview

These workshops are hands-on creative sessions designed to support NDIS participants in developing confidence, social connection, routine, and practical artistic skills through makeup artistry and introductory special effects techniques.

Sessions are delivered in a small, supportive studio environment and are tailored to suit a range of abilities, interests, and sensory needs. Participants are encouraged to explore self-expression through creative makeup, character design, and beginner special effects concepts in a structured yet flexible format.

Workshop Structure & Delivery Model

Workshops are delivered through a flexible, skills-based creative program designed to support participants at a range of abilities and experience levels. Sessions focus on building confidence, creativity, routine, and practical makeup and special effects skills within a supportive studio environment.

Participants may attend workshops in two ways, depending on their goals and support needs:

Who this is suitable for?

These workshops are suitable for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants with goals relating to social participation, confidence building, emotional expression, and development of creative or practical skills.

Ongoing Weekly Creative Program

Participants can attend individual weekly sessions on a casual basis. Each session explores a different theme within makeup artistry, character design, or introductory special effects techniques. This model allows participants to join at any time and develop skills at their own pace while maintaining consistency and routine.

6-Week Skill Development Blocks (Optional)

For participants working towards specific NDIS goals, workshops can also be structured into progressive 6-week blocks. These blocks provide a more guided learning pathway and allow participants to build upon their skills each week in a structured and supportive way.

Example progression may include:

• Character & Fantasy Makeup

• Introduction to Special Effects & Prosthetics

These blocks are adaptable to suit individual participant goals, interests, sensory needs, and support requirements.

Flexible Creative Skills Pathway

Casual Creative Sessions

Participants attend individual workshops exploring makeup, character design, and creative expression in a relaxed studio setting. Suitable for beginners or those wanting flexible, low-pressure engagement.

6-Week Skill Development Blocks (Optional)

Participants may enrol in structured blocks aligned with their NDIS goals, progressively building skills, routine, and confidence across weekly sessions.

Advanced Creative & SPFX Techniques

Participants who wish to extend their learning may progress into more specialised workshops focusing on character design, introductory special effects, and basic prosthetic application techniques, tailored to their abilities and interests.

Participants may enter the program at any stage depending on their goals, experience level, and support needs. Progression remains flexible and individually tailored.

Session Approach

Workshops are delivered in small groups within a calm, creative studio setting to encourage social engagement while maintaining a low-pressure learning environment. Each session is practical and hands-on, with demonstrations, guided practice, and individual support provided throughout.

Activities are tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, with an emphasis on:

• Building confidence and independence

• Developing fine motor skills and coordination

• Encouraging emotional expression through creative design

• Supporting routine, focus, and task completion

• Fostering social connection in a shared creative space

Participants are encouraged to explore their personal style and creative interests, including alternative, character-based, and introductory special effects makeup looks where appropriate.

Participant Suitability & Support Needs

Workshops are suitable for participants who:

• Have an interest in creative arts, makeup, or character design

• Would benefit from confidence-building and skill development activities

• Are able to participate in a small group environment

• Can follow guided instructions with varying levels of support

Participants may attend independently or with a support worker, depending on their individual needs and plan requirements.

Workshops are not therapy sessions, but are capacity-building creative programs designed to complement participant goals around independence, social engagement, and personal development.

Studio Environment & Accessibility

Workshops are held at a private creative studio located at: 423 Wondall Rd, Brisbane QLD

The studio environment is designed to be calm, welcoming, and sensory-considerate. Small group sizes allow for individual attention and flexibility in delivery pace.

Where required, adjustments can be made to support sensory preferences, learning styles, and communication needs to ensure participants feel comfortable and supported throughout sessions.

Please note the studio is up 1 flight of stairs, bathrooms are located on the ground floor.

Pricing & Funding Information

Workshops are delivered as small-group, capacity-building creative sessions within a specialist studio environment. Pricing reflects the duration of sessions, inclusion of materials, small group sizes, and the level of individual guidance provided.

Workshops may be funded under relevant NDIS Capacity Building or Core Supports, depending on the participant’s individual goals and plan

Group Creative Capacity-Building Workshops

3-hour small group session (2–6 participants) - $180 per participant

These sessions are hands-on, guided creative workshops designed to build confidence, routine, social engagement, and practical artistic skills through makeup artistry, character design, and introductory special effects techniques.

Pricing includes:

• All standard workshop materials and products

• Professional demonstrations and guided instruction

• Individualised support within a small group setting

• A calm, creative studio environment designed to encourage participation and self-expression

Workshops are suitable for participants who enjoy creative activities and benefit from structured, skill-based group programs that support independence and confidence development.

6-Week Skill Development Program. 6 x 3-hour progressive workshop sessions - $1,020 per participant

Participants may enrol in structured 6-week blocks aligned to their personal goals. These programs provide a consistent routine and allow skills to be developed progressively across multiple sessions.

Programs may focus on areas such as:

• Creative makeup foundations

• Character and fantasy makeup

• Introductory special effects and prosthetic concepts (where suitable)

This format is ideal for participants working towards longer-term goals related to confidence, creative expression, and social participation.

Individual 1:1 Creative Skill Sessions (Optional) 3-hour tailored session - $260 per session

Individual sessions provide one-on-one creative skill development tailored to the participant’s interests, abilities, and support needs. These sessions allow for a slower pace, increased individual guidance, and a highly personalised learning experience.

Suitable for participants who:

• Prefer or require individual support

• Are building confidence before joining group sessions

• Have specific creative goals they would like to explore in depth

Materials & Specialist Workshops

Standard workshop materials are included in all group session pricing.

Where sessions involve more advanced special effects or prosthetic materials, any additional costs will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Invoicing & Payment

Invoices can be issued to plan managers for plan-managed participants, or directly to participants or nominees for self-managed plans. Payment terms and service agreements will be confirmed prior to commencement of sessions.

Bookings & Availability

Workshops are currently delivered on select weekdays and occasional weekends from the Wondall Rd studio location. Group sizes are intentionally kept small to ensure a supportive and personalised learning experience.

Support coordinators, plan managers, and participants are welcome to enquire regarding current availability, suitable group placements, or individual session options.
